I won't be forgetting to read the next book in this trilogy!,June 18,
This review is from: The Forgotten Ones (The Danaan Trilogy) (Kindle Edition)
""The Forgotten Ones" by Laura Howard was a great read. On my personal blog I gave it 5 $ $ $ $ $ ! That rating means I would retrieve this before I flee'd from my burning home. I think that will be an obvious way to say that I enjoyed it.
It's a YA PNR involving the descendants of the Goddess Danu. More commonly called fae, fairies, the gentry. I'm a huge fan of fairy tales! Especially ones that force readers to let go off the image of "Tinkerbell" & really start going into the different species of fae, & how they're wreaking havoc on Earth.
In "The Forgotten Ones" the story POV is through Allison. Allison lives with her grandparents who care for her & her Mother. Society has labeled her mother to be a paranoid schizophrenic but the truth of what's wrong with Allison's mother is actually nothing modern medicine could possibly label , help, or treat.
Allison works and goes to school denying herself a social life. The guilt of her grandparents having to take care of Beth ( Allison's mother) as well as herself compels her to focus on being able to return the favor and care for them as soon as she's able.
Her guilt runs deeper because before giving birth to Allison her mother was said to be a happy, untroubled , woman.
A healthy happy Beth had gone to Ireland to study abroad at Trinity College (for anyone who reads a lot of stories about the gentry, Trinity College is often mentioned in combination with humans seeing fae). This tale is no different. By the time Beth returns from college she's pregnant and displaying symptoms no one can figure out.
Allison finds out the truth of why her mother has become the way she is and it's sends her on a journey that will take her into the Realm of fae.
After her father, who never been seen by Allison shows up after 20 years claiming he can help her mother it starts a chain of events that can not be reversed.
Allison must leave behind a blooming relationship with a long time crush to start the journey to save her mother, not only her mind but possibly her life.
Risking her own in the process. The book the "Forgotten One" by Laura Howard is the first in a trilogy. The second book in the trilogy does not have a release date yet but is supposed to be available sometime this winter.
You can find this book on Amazon now and more info about upcoming release's on Laura Howard's webpage. I will be hosting a date in the "Forgotten Ones" blog tour in the near future that will include excerpts as well as a giveaway! Make sure to check in at http://[email protected]. To hear about more books you don't want to miss!
I highly recommend "The Forgotten Ones" to anyone who enjoys the "Iron Fey" series, the "Fever Series" or the "Shadow Reader series". All of these titles can be found on Goodreads as well as purchased through Amazon.
Add this book to your shelves, the only thing you'll regret is that you're going to have to wait for the next installment to this series!
