Fiercely independent Helen Winters was born completely blind, but she vowed never to let her disability keep her down. She did not expect a traumatic event to devastate her life and force her to drop out of college. Disillusioned by the cruelty of people, Helen retreated from society to live by herself as a reclusive writer in the woods—where no one could ever hurt her again.
When a brilliant young doctor shows up on her doorstep, promising her that his new research can give her the ability to see for the first time, Helen stubbornly refuses. She has learned not to trust anyone, and to rely only on herself. But Dr. Liam Larson will not take no for an answer. He makes it his personal mission to rescue Helen from her loneliness, and bring joy into her world once more—the joy she has denied herself for so long.
When Helen’s demons come racing back into her life, threatening to rip her apart and destroy the strength she has carefully rebuilt, Liam is the only one who might be able to save her.
Can he reach the broken girl in time, helping her to heal and see the world in a different light? Or will Helen’s grief send her spiraling out of control, lost to him forever?

I am excited to review "Clarity" by Loretta Lost! The first book in this emotional series is gripping from the prologue all the way up until the last page.
Though I was miserable being left clinging to the rocky, dangerously compelling edges of the cliff- hanger ending, I was with out a doubt going to read the next installment .
The book jumps right in from the P.O.V. of Helen Winters. A young college student who has lost her mother & is trying to go about life and contain her grief by going to class at school. Helen is blind. Never letting her disability get the best of her she has gotten involved and is on her way to l getting a degree in Psychology.
While trying to navigate the labyrinth like halls of her school w/o the aid of her walking stick she loses her way... This is the beginning of a truly horrible crime.
I don't want to spoil any of the book so that's where I'll stop retelling the book & get down to reviewing it.
I gave "Clarity" by Loretta Lost 3 1/2 stars. I loved Helen's character . I had a very close friend that was blind and the emotions described by Loretta Lost were very astute. Sadly I've also had my best friend go through the heart wrenching assault that drives Helen out if college and away from her home, family, and college.
It sickens me that humans can prey upon one another in the manner that these women, [ both fictional and real ]. My best friend did not let the man who assaulted her get away with it. It still didn't change the fact that she to this day suffers from PTSD. I appreciate the author making this topic so pivotal in this first installment.
Fans of Gillian Flynn will love this book. I would recommend it to fans of books that snatch you up in the story and leave you feeling like you're not sure what's going to happen next. Each page is full of emotion & I found myself experiencing life through the sounds and descriptions of a blind woman who is anything but disabled.
I'll defiantly be reading the next book!I need to find out if Dr.Liam will not only be able to use the gene therapy to open Helen's eyes to the world... but hopefully her heart to him.
