Black Abaddon (The Vulcan Legacies)
by Sasha Hibbs
Release Date: 02/20/14
Summary from Goodreads:
Ally Watson struggles to live with the choices she made, the worst of which resulted in her soul mate's death. Michael’s sacrifice to save the girl he loved may have reversed the Apocalypse, but not the permanent damage inflicted by living with his loss.
Ally begins a journey where she soon discovers that death is not always the end, but sometimes the very beginning. With old friends, she journeys to the Nosferatu Nation where she meets with new alliances willing to help her in her quest to defeat the Devourer. At every turn, Ally unearths secrets that threaten to destroy those she loves.
The second installment of The Vulcan Legacies series will put Ally to the ultimate test, forcing her to face her fears and the true destiny she will fulfill as Azrael, the Seraph of Death.
Goodreads link to book one:
"Black Abaddon" by Sasha Hibbs is a YA genre book. It's the second in the series & true to most second acts it it dark !
From the P.O.V. of Ally a.k.a. the Seraph of Death or "Azreal", the book picks up after the first of what is going to be a war of apocalyptic volumes with "The Devourer". Ally learns the hard way that choices that should seem easy are never that way. This book as it's lead character are in the winter of their lives. It seems cold and desolate.
Right if the bat this book has you in the thick of emotion. Loss, pain, and still the need to fight because no one in this group has not lost someone they love & the places they all considered their homes.
Ally has lost more than that. The Seraph of Death can not hold her own weapons. Her fire burns low.
If not for a personal visit from the Authority, she was ready to throw in the towel. Her guilt at failing her soul mate & than having strange new allies that she'd have thought she herself would have killed.. It's certainly strange days for Ally.
Sasha Hibbs writes in such a way that you feel like your viewing the world through the characters eyes and feeling what they're going through. For this book that is an emotional journey. Fans of the first book in this series will not be disappointed in this next installment . It's "Temple of Doom"/ "Return of the Jedi" dark ( fair warning) but it's also gearing up for the next round !
If you enjoy books about Angels, Apocolyptic power hungry Morning Stars, love, hate, passion & more than check out this series .
The world building is unique & the characters are well developed. The story is quick paced and though it may be a bit more geared towards chicks I think this book would be enjoyed by men as well. The YA genre does keep the extremes to a reasonable level without it feeling like it has no fire. This book is still hot:) I give it 3 1/2 stars and recommend you add this book or series to your shelves!
Enjoy the weekend! - mouse
About the Author
By age 5, Sasha Hibbs' favorite movie was Gone With the Wind. By age 12, she completed her 7th grade book report on the sequel, Scarlett. By 18, she met and married her very own Mr. Rhett Butler and as it turns out, she never had to worry about going back to Tara to win the love of her life back. Fortunately, he stuck with her.
With a love of all things paranormal, the ambiance of the South with its gigantic antebellum mansions and canopies of Spanish moss, and a love for her husband’s rich storytelling of blacksmiths and the mythology surrounding their origins, it wasn’t long until the world of her debut novel, Black Amaranth, was born.
When not working her day job as a nurse, you can find Sasha dreaming of her next beach trip, reading the latest YA novel, and drinking more white chocolate mocha than she should.
Sasha lives in mountainous West Virginia with her husband, Tim, and their two daughters, Aeliza and Ava. She is currently hard at work on book two in The Vulcan Legacies series.
